Just a quick reminder to everyone that meetings have been changed to the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month at 7pm. You are all welcome to join us at the Navy League hall on Cedarwood.
P.S - The groups' list of goals and objectives may well be a part of its own initial formative excercises...
Let's just decide to 'GET'ER DONE!' (a la Larry the Cable Guy, lol)
On a serious note, deadlines for reports (even reports on development of goals and objectives) is where we start to hit the proving grounds and transform ourselves from a 'bunch of interesting dreamers' into a REAL, and tangible force to be reckoned with...
Good luck in the talks along these lines guys and gals ;-)
P.S #2 - If we do this right, I am sure that the initial goals and objectives we set out for this group can form the basis of our own...
Even if we choose at first to adopt the Projects goals & objectives informally, it is alot further ahead than meandering too far along without any focus or parameters to guide us... N'est pas?
regarding the garage sale, decide on the date(s) start selling for the advertising around the map, set up an email address where participants can sign up their address, to be pin pointed on the map. When enough funds have been raised, then get it printed. Then advertise , online and perhaps flyers.
We have discussed a date (as of yet pretty much undecided) and some ideas about kick starting it. We have yet to discuss in depth how to get started or who will be doing what.
We are currently discussing beautifying the entrance to the city (using hedges and other evergreens to fill in the space behind the billboards).
Perhaps talk to local nurseries about joining in these efforts, and ask for a discount or other mutually agreeable arrangement in order to get such plants?
Is there anyone there whom has connections in these networks?
the net idea between the billboards would be neat- (permission is needed by the land owners) having plants hanging from the nets, ...one question comes to mind though, watering of the plants.
Who is responsible for what within each of these three projects?
Who, for instance will lead each or all of these?
Who will be responsible for documentation (in and out)... I.E: letters (asking for support, or information letters), flyers, and any other written communications we may need for these?
Who will keep a list of the registered participants?
Who (for the Christmas Festival) will help to plan and seek out volunteers and also communicate with existing groups?
Finally, are we going to form an official group around these projects? How will this team be structured? (Who is involved and in what capacity?)
Are there goals, objectives, or a mission for these projects? If not, let's begin to hammer out how these are formed and who is reponsible for what based upon them...
Yes Leyland Cypress is an evergreen and is a very beautiful tree, that can be trimmed into a hedge. But if left will grow up to 75 foot tall tree. Must be pruned and it will bush out nicely.
maybe next meeting it would be nice to say the meeting is over, and end it so that the ones left in cyberspace would know.. the last 2 meetings ended like this.
has the meeting started? what is being talked about? the garage sale?
ReplyDeleteHi all.. My apologies for not making it tonight... :-(
ReplyDeleteI will keep track on here however; good luck with the discussions!!
Looking forward to reading up on it...
anyone blogging tonight?...
ReplyDeleteWe're here :) Just waiting for people again haha. We are discussing ideas for how to make the garage sale a viable project. Any ideas?
ReplyDeleteLet's begin by first deciding on THESE listed items (as a suggested list, of courses and wild horses ;-).
ReplyDelete1. Do we need a Planning Group specific to this project?
2. If we decide this is so; what goal and which objectives may we assign this group to start it up?
3. Please be mindful that communication will be key in organizing such an event. Who must we reach out to in order to maximize our efforts?
Once this group is formed and given its assignment(s), an open link back to this group is all that is needed to keep us abreast of the developments...
LOL, could be that we ALL wish to be on the Project Planning Group, but heck, that is jes' fine with me :-D
Only 8 people at this meeting...lol so PLEASE give your input if you're tuned in :D
ReplyDeleteP.S - The groups' list of goals and objectives may well be a part of its own initial formative excercises...

Thank you for the logical input :)

(Another suggestion for all to consider...)

ReplyDeleteWill the group as a whole be handling the project planning then?
ReplyDeletethe maps could be sold for a nominal fee to recoup some of the costs.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds as though the group will be working together along with anyone who chooses to join us in the future :P
ReplyDeleteOk... Thanks for that...
ReplyDeleteAre there any deadlines being set or is there any suggestion being made to formalize our groups' efforts around this project?

Yup :) there is a gal here with a connection to colyn's.
ReplyDeleteKewl...
ReplyDeleteWhat is the primary focus of the project thus far?
ReplyDeleteAnything showing signs of becoming so?
we have three main focuses:
ReplyDeleteThe garage sale
The planting of hedges/shrubbery behind and around the billboards
and The Christmas Festival at Mcleans Mill.
All three will be worked on as of this (at least to my understanding)
if you decide on a hedge, Leyland Cypress grow about 3 feet a year, and they are deer proof. Cedar hedges will be eaten by the bambies.
ReplyDeletethe net idea between the billboards would be neat- (permission is needed by the land owners) having plants hanging from the nets, ...one question comes to mind though, watering of the plants.
ReplyDeleteto reach them up high to water.
ReplyDeleteOk, got that...

Good work thus far to you all ;-)
Is leyland cypress an evergreen?
ReplyDeleteMy honey and I would really like to see an official CHRISTMAS parade happen in town!
ReplyDeleteIf we have a festival, why not open it up with a parade??
May not start up immediately, but I bet it will!!!!!

ReplyDeleteIs the meeting done now?? Any decisions made on these three first projects?
